The Mirador Apartment Block was Occupied by Squarters, 24 apartments out of 60.  Residents were physically assaulted and living in fear. It took 4 to 5 years to get an eviction order, The Police having no powers to act by forcibly removing them. Is this an ongoing problem in and around Denia, to Villas as well as apartments.  We realise that the risk is greater if you leave your property unoccupied, for long periods but envisage that we will be travelling for a couple of months at a time, in and around Europe.  We would be very grateful for any incite and information, as this could determine whether we decide to purchase a Villa in Denia. Thanks  Tom & Viv

No more a danger in the Denia area than any other area of Spain. If you buy in the countryside take the normal precautions with gates, walls, rejas etc.

I believe there has been a recent change to the law on squatting which gives police increased powers.

The Denia area isn't immune from crime, but I would think crime rates are generally lower than some other Spanish coastal areas. Dont allow any concern about crime to put you off buying in the area.

I live in Beniarbeig just inland from Denia, been here for 4 years. I know Denia fairly well. Also Pedreguer,  are you looking at in the environs of the town or on an urbanisation such as Monte Pedreguer? I'm out and about just now in the car but will give you a more detailed reply later today re the merits of both.

Best regards Steve

If you're looking to relocate permanently I would definitely recommend Denia over Pedreguer as it has so much more to offer. No disrespect to anyone who chose Pedreguer by the way. There are many reasons, too many to list quickly here.

I'd be happy to meet you for a coffee when you're over if I can be of any help, my village is a couple of miles from Pedreguer.

You can watsapp me if you want, uk number
