Does anyone know where I can buy a descent instantaneous electric shower with a high output like 10.8kw ? They don’t seem to use them in Spain. I only have a shower and so I don’t want a hot water tank . Have instant hot water for the taps . If need be I’ll buy a Mira in UK but I wonder if they are legal here ? Any advise kindly received

Check what potencia you are on from your electricity bills, there are not many properties that would be able to take the strain.

It’s probably why you don’t see them around

At the risk of sounding ignorant, I'll sound ignorant!  :)  I'm American -- what is an instantaneous electric shower?  Thanks!

It's a shower that uses an internal electric heater to warm the water as you use the shower. Typical power use is around 9Kw which requires it's own dedicated high capacity cable from the consumer unit.

Most modern apartments have a 5.7Kw total capacity and would not provide the required power.

You will be unlikely for find any house in Spain with a supply capable of feeding an instant electric shower.  In the UK you are looking at something that takes maybe 10 or 12 kW .  That will not happen in Spain.

You also need to have a good water pressure which is something else you cannot rely on in Spain.

Most people have an instantaneous gas water heater if they don't want a tank.  I have a Junkers one and it works very well.  It is quite economical and I have two propane bottles outside with an automatic change over valve just so you don't suddenly get a cold shower!!!  I use propane because unlike butane, it will come of of the bottle when it's freezing outside.
