Just curious really..
Are there any members here who own a property in Spain that they rent out, either long-term or short-term, if so what percentage of tax would be paid on the income of the property?

I don’t know but I would guess at 20%+
got to be at least in line with earned income from any other sources

Moreover, do you have the appropriate license for renting out?…
I understand they can be quite hard to come by in some areas

Hi Tricia,
A UK citizen, not resident in Spain and renting out their Spanish property would pay income tax of 24% with no allowable deductions, payable quarterly. For periods when the property is not rented out, you would pay an imputed non-resident tax.
For short-term holiday lets, you would need to hold a Tourist Licence, although this would not be required for longer term lets of, typically, 90 days or more.

It comes down to where you reside. If in the EU the tax is 19% after a few allowable deductions. If a non-EU resident then a straight 24% on gross rental. As a non-resident of Spain tax is payable quarterly.
Long term residential letting requires a contract in Spanish that meets legal requirements. Holiday (non-residential) letting requires a Tourist License as well as a contract and guests will need to be registered on arrival.
