I’m flying out next week to look at a caravan on a site just outside Denia that my friend is selling. I’m 61, currently work full time but considering this purchase for short holidays now but longer ones when I retire. What do people think?

Check out the monthly fees as depending on the facilities these can be quite high. On a mobile home site near me they are about €400 per month!

Denia is a long way from the airports and hire car prices are very expensive since lockdown.

If you are from the UK you will be restricted to a maximum of 90 days in any 180 in the Schengen zone.

Thank you. I know the cost of the fees which are affordable. First visit I’m getting the train from Alicante to Denia then bus to the campsite. I’ll consider hiring a car once I get used to the area and location.

It's a tram service from Alicante city so I wonder if the airport bus to Benidorm and then the tram on to Denia might be quicker, either way that is some journey.

Hi Jane, have you looked into getting your pension in Spain? I’m thinking of a permanent move in a couple of years. Exciting time x

At present, the tram terminates at Teulada due to repairs on the line. 8 believe that it's due to reopen later this year. 8n the meantime though you would have to find alternative transport, bus, between Teulada and Denia.

Why such a downer on mobile homes Cheryl?

I agree it's not an option for everyone but for a significant number it's a practical and sensible choice, particularly for the older generation.

It's patronising to assume that everyone who enquires about buying one has done no research beforehand.

Hi  There is a free bus substitution from Teulada to Denia which meets every tram arrival.  Used it last week, good service  Gillian

I haven't got a downer on mobile homes at all and I'm struggling to see where you get that impression from.  I believe I quite rightly pointed out that fees can be quite expensive and hadn't assumed anything about the amount of research done so I'm not quite sure what your statement is based on.
My main concern was the distance from the airport and the time it will take to get there by public transport after a long day of travelling, especially for short holidays as practically two whole days would be taken up getting there and back.
The OP asked what we think and I gave my opinion so please don't make assumptions about me.
