I have a villa in Denia that I would like to rent out over the summer months.   I understand I need to obtain a tourist certificate before I can list it on any websites( Airbnb etc).  Have been told this can take up to 6 months to get the correct paperwork ! Does any one have any advice /experience or recommendations of how to obtain it quicker ?

Many thanks.

Not that I'm aware of I'm afraid. This starts at the Town Hall where they will decide if they are going to sign it off as suitable for tourist lets and this is not guaranteed. If it goes further there will be a visit to establish that the property meets all the criteria and due to the sheer number of applications the whole process could take at least 8 months now, from what I've been reading on here. Registration has been with us since 2015 but it appears not many people took it seriously and it was only once people realised they would be heavily fined and the premises closed down by the police that the flood of applications started after mid 2018 when laws started to be enforced.

Takes up to 6 months??....double that! Our application has been in since August last year, has been submitted to the relevant authorities, still waiting on next stage ie. inspection of the property to confirm all standards are met. I’d suggest you write off this year and focus on having it in place for next year, starting by getting your spplication in ASAP
