As the hot topic of the day someone had to bring this up!

Coming over later in the month and wondered if anything at all is happening in this regard at all. I heard there was a case in Benidorm recently but nothing around Denia that I can see (currently Alicante seems clear).

With all the mis-information circulating I thought it best to ask those on the ground!

Hi JRG1,

If it makes you feel better, you're not the first to ask!  :o)

In the last hour, El Mundo has published the following list of infections in Spain.  I notice that the number for the Canary Islands has fallen, but as La Gomera and Tenerife were the first two regions of Spain to report cases, I assume that some of the numbers originally reported would have recovered by now.

Los datos del coronavirus en España

  • 137 en Madrid
  • 30 en la Comunidad Valenciana
  • 45 en País Vasco
  • 24 en Cataluña
  • 29 en La Rioja
  • 16 en Andalucía
  • 14 en Castilla y León
  • 13 en Castilla-La Mancha
  • 11 en Canarias (3 dados ya de alta)
  • 10 en Cantabria
  • 6 en Extremadura.
  • 6 en Baleares
  • 7 en Asturias
  • 3 en Navarra
  • 4 en Galicia
  • 6 en Aragón

The first case in Comunidad Valenciana was in Vila-Real, so quite a way north of Denia, but we had a report yesterday of a case in the Vega Baja hospital near San Bartolome, so it's probably fair to assume that the 30 cases in our region could be anywhere.  If I can find a breakdown of the location for these cases, I'll update this post.
Kind regards,Kim

Saturday March 7 update from El Mundo

14:24 SIX NEW CASES IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY

The Department of Universal Health has confirmed this Saturday six new cases of coronavirus in the Valencian Community, bringing the number of infections to 37 in this autonomy, reports Europa Press.

This has been explained by the Minister of Universal Health, Ana Barceló, after having a meeting with the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, in the Palau de la Generalitat.

Specifically, the six new positive results of coronavirus correspond to an imported patient, from La Fe hospital in Valencia, three secondary cases in Alicante who had contact with a patient who traveled to Italy, a case hospitalized in Valencia and one more case in Valencia who had contact with patients.

Thus, there are 35 active cases and 37 infections. All are mild except two. One of the cases is that of the deceased in the Arnau de Vilanova, while the first infected person was released this Friday from the Hospital de la Plana.

I’m sure there will be a plane load of new cases coming up....yesterday a woman sat with a hacking cough & sniffing away.  Not once did she cover her mouth !

Please...use a tissue and blow your nose!  and USE your HANDS To cover your mouth!

Meanwhile , I’m looking like a madwoman cleaning down my seat & tray table with antiseptic wipes!
