Health insurance for expats in Spain

Would be grateful if someone would recommande best Health Insurrance companies for retired expats living in Spain

When we arranged our private health insurance we used Gran Alacant Insurance and dealt with Alfonso, very professional and friendly, English speaking, we were delighted with the entire service and process, tel 966390830 or email [email protected], tell him John and Gillian from La Zenia recommended him.

If you are of retirement age (i.e. you have not taken early retirement) you only need an S1 from the UK DWP. You do not need to take out separate insurance. However, if you do want private insurance I can highly recommend ASSSA - the premium you pay when you take out the insurance is what you pay every year, unlike some companies who hike up the premiums as you get older. If you want contact details for ASSSA let me know and if you need more details of the S1 I think there is a "Jim's guide".
