Hi all, I am coming out to Denia in December and just a bit worried about medical cover, what is the situation with doctors and dentists not planning to visit them but is e1 11 worth having. Any advice appreciated to this newbe ps I am keen cyclist and plan to get plenty of cycling in. Thanks. Phil
Hi Phil,
The e111 was replaced by the EHIC card, same thing really anyway.
You are still fine with an EHIC card at least until December 31st, there is talk of a continuing reciprocal agreement but it all depends.
One thing a lot of people are not aware of is that even if you have travel insurance many companies require you to use your EHIC card for treatment in the first instance at least, therefore effectively no card no cover for treatment, also check that cycling is covered under any policy.
