Wondering if anyone has used a company that assists you with buying, orientation, legal services etc.? Myself and my husband will be coming to Denia in the next month to look for villas. We know Denia a little as my parents lived 40 mins away in Gandia for many years and have been to Denia a few times.

We kind of know the area's we would like to move to in Denia and have found a selection of villas. Only problem is they are from many different agents. Wondering if there is someone that can help arrange viewings and generally look after us!

When I was in your shoes three years ago, I came over for a week's viewings of properties I'd found online. I drew up a schedule giving each agent a day or half a day, and each of them was happy to pick me up at the hotel and chauffer me around the properties. They get 5-10% fees in Spain, so it's big money for them.

I'm happy to help, but am away from this Sunday until October 4th. When are you over?

Hi Claire,

Are you looking at permanent relocation or just the purchase of a holiday home? In the case of moving permanently I can understand your request because at first sight the process of getting through all the administration involved to buy and to settle seems very daunting.

However if you break down the tasks into a list and look at them separately there is no need to have the peace of mind (and cost) of such a service.

There are many helpful posters on the Forum who could help with advice at each stage.

There are also tasks where you could use a Gestor to help you through the admin depending on your ability and determination to "do it yourself".

My short advice on buying is to let each agent show you properties that you have noted as liked. Use that process to decide on the area of Denia you want to be in, narrow your search until you find the property you want to buy.

Never pay money to an agent or anyone connected to or recommended by an agent. Identify an Abogado through recommendation here and instruct them to handle your purchase and to ensure utilities are connected/transferred.

Identify a good Gestoria for administration of other matters.

When you tick off one task at a time the process is not as daunting as it first looked.

If you need help or reassurance at any stage you can find it here.

Good hunting, Steve

Hi, unlike the UK, most agents can show you most properties, it does not have to be listed with them and so you should be able to use just the one agent to view all the properties you are interested in.

Good Luck!

stay out of the city centre,it is noisy and awful, stick or aim for the outskirts ie the montgo, but very hilly,or ask theresa at Abbey properties she is knowlegeable re this town, also the Bassettes beach areas r ok.
