Hi, I see recommendations to living in Denia. Which are the nice communities for year-round living in a mixed expat/local community? Close to the sea nice but not necessary. Thanks!!

Hi , I moved to Denia about 2 years ago ( not full time as yet ) and give my experience of the town and buying a property .

I initially rented a flat in the Las Marines area in October , a couple of miles outside of town . Nice but very quiet out of season as mostly holiday flats. I spent the month looking at properties - some nice villas but felt a bit isolated as they were out of town . I eventually bought a flat in a Spanish residential block in the centre of town . The huge advantage of this is everything is 10minutes walk away - beaches , marina , ferry port and all the town centre restaurants and bars and the train and coach station . You can be in Denia without even needing a car .

There is a lot going on which you would not know about when living outside town . Its a lovely town to be part of and functions all year round .

Hi Warwick, Thanks very much for sharing. Its nice to get different points of view. I too thought that living out of town might feel a bit isolated, so am happy to hear it is easy to integrate in town. We don't speak Spanish (yet), but hope to learn once we get settled. Cheers, Ilene

I am only 2km along las marinas and love the area! There are bars nearby and it is a pleasant walk along the beach to town or short bus ride! Best thing is to rent in different areas to get a feel for the place for a long term decision!

Can I ask if you still need a car to get to the airport or are there reasonably priced alternatives?

Thank you

Hi ,

From Denia coach station you can get a coach to both Alicante and Valencia airports and most other major cities , its quite a frequent and economical service .

I always use Benniconnect transfer service and find it fantastic! From the airport to Denia and offers many choices of pickup and stops.. it drops me and/or collects at the bus stop by my home along Las Marinas 2km! Similar to a taxi service but a mini bus and takes longer if other drop offs en route but worth it! They have a website and fb page!
