My partner and I are applying for residency in Denia in early July.

I noticed a post on this forum from someone in Altea recounting their problems applying for residency in Benidorm. The issue was a very strict interpretation of the health insurance rules by the police authorities there. This person's circumstances exactly mirrored mine, so I'm wondering what peoples' experiences are of dealing with the Denia authorities on residencia. Forewarned is forearmed!

We are older so health insurance requirements did not apply. But the process in Denia was just as complex and necessitated total accurate compliance with everything; the rules are the rules are the rules.

The most important thing is to ensure that your health insurance provider issues an accompanying statement that the insurance complies. I was pre warned about this and Mark Petrie brokers in Denia ensured that my DKV policy came with it. Vital.

Then with a prior appointment at the Policia Extranjeros, armed with a letter from my bank confirming sufficient funds, said Health Ins, NIE, passport, I was in and out in 20 minutes.

Having done ours in Denia, as long as your health insurance includes no co-payments, you will be ok.

As long as the health insurance has no co-payments and you have paid a full year in advance then that will be fine. You should get a cover note/certificate from the company to show you have health insurance, you show that to the police (not the policy).

Thanks for reply. If you had to have a customised letter from the bank (saying what exactly? Did they confirm current balance? Monthly amount going in?), what is the form 'Modelo 790' for? Is that just to show you've paid the 10.90 euros appointment fee?

regards

HJ

The bank letter just confirmed my balance from a few days earlier. It didn't confirm any monthly minimum deposits.

And I think you're right about the 790

OK, ladies and gentlemen, I'm glad to report that I did get my residencia card. The whole process, once I was called to the desk, took 10 minutes and was straightforward.

Thanks to all those in this thread who replied and helped me to understand the process. If I can pass on the benefit of my experience, feel free to ask.
