I am retired and thinking of buying and living in Dolores. Is it a good place for Brits to live? Are there bars and restaurants where expats gather occasionally?

If you hold a UK passport, are you familiar with the visa requirements to live in Spain?

We have an appartment in Dolores. Do not live there permanently. Dolores is really a lovely Spanish villlage. Most are Spanish but also lots of English, Dutch and Belgium people. Always busy, lots of terraces and bars. For us the most beautiful village we have seen and we have seen them all in the area. We are Dutch by the way.

Hi

We are full time residents of Dolores since 2017. We like it because it is very Spanish but with just enough brits and other nationalities to be comfortable.  Friday mornings is the market which brings the British into town from the surrounding countryside.  There are enough bars and cafés but not much in the way of restaurants in this town.  The fountain bar is British run and has started to have some entertainment.  A really pleasant plaza with a stunning church, ice cream parlour.  Centro de salud with 24hour emergency service.  Lots of fun parades and community fiestas.  Convenient for driving to the beach and larger centres eg.  Torrevieja and guardiamarina.

We live just outside of Catral in-between Catral and Dolores. In Dolores is a lovely market, hospital that you have to take a translator and supermarkets. It is a pretty place to live. Catral has a lot of supermarkets, a massive Chinese shop that sells everything you can think of. Bars and restaurants and ladies groups for coffee mornings.

Good luck, it's a lovely place to live, has more sun here than anywhere else due to being surrounded by mountains
