Hello

I am thinking of taking my car down to Costa Blanca and would like an idea of the road toll costs from Santander to Alicante

Hope someone can help.

Thank-you.

We are making the journey from Cherbourg to La Zenia this weekend and anticipate tolls of around 65 euros. Check out the website Via Michelin for your route for directions, distances, tolls and much more.

You can drive very easily toll-free from Santander to this area, I've done it several times. The route passes two main places - Burgos and Madrid, but you don't have to go through either of them. Most of the journey is on fast roads, with not much traffic. A very pleasant drive of about 8 hours, not including breaks.

Tolls between Cherbourg & La Zenia will be in France. You can drive very easily from the north of Spain to La Zenia toll-free.

Done it loads of times....i go to Madrid and Burgos.. .I would advise taking the toll road round Madrid just follow the airport signs , it is about 5/6 euros but we'll worth it.

Easy trip as 99% of the roads are duel carriageway with next to no traffic!

Hi Geoff,

Came across your post regarding Santander to Costa Blanca. Am making this trip for the first time in October. Can you please give me more details for passing Madrid. Had terrible trouble years ago when going to Malaga. Thanks if you can help. Zdenek

Hi Zdenek

I use a (free) app on my smartphone, called Waze.

I've used it for the journey down, both on toll roads and non-toll, and I have by-passed Madrid no trouble at all, without even slowing down.

I'm not sure which is better really, there's not much in it.

My TomTom used to do get me past Madrid easily too.

Anyway, as far as you're concerned, don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Geoff.
