I have been looking at quotes for private healthcare as I am still in my 50's. Could someone advise please. I am told pre existing conditions are not covered so what happens if you need a repeat prescription? Do you have to pay to see the doctor each time for that condition? Sorry for sounding so dense but I am not sure how this whole thing works. I have also been quoted 70 plus €. Does that sound about average to people? Thanks.

Hi Angie1

My wife and I are both in our 50`s. We moved here in January.

We arranged our insurance for our health, car and home through www.granalacantinsurances.com.

The gentleman who runs it is called Alfonso, and he is brilliant.

5 weeks into our move here, my dog bit me badly, he broke my finger and caused some nasty bad wounds. Our health insurance is with Salus. When you take out insurance you get a directory, it tells you where to go for English speaking assistance.

Although we had the directory, we panicked a little so we called Alfonso, he took over everything. He has contacted the hospital, the insurance company, ensuring all was OK to go. He contacts us to see how we are getting on. He is always on hand to help.

I do not work for him or receive anything, but wanted to tell you that i have never had such efficient, reliable and conscientious service from anyone relating to insurance, he goes above and beyond. And also he was very competitive with the price.

Hope this helps, all the best

John Archer

Hi John

Thanks for the reference. I have spoken to Alfonso a number of times and I agree, he has been lovely.

It seems to be the best policy I have found so far regarding what is covered and the price. I will keep looking around as I have plenty of time but I will bear in mind what you have said.

Thank you.
