Hello again.  Latest says same rules apply for Phase 0 and 1 in that people from the same household can travel together in their car, within their province. However, it then says going to a supermarket should only be the driver with no passenger. What am I missing about "applies equally"? Can I and my wife drive to Carrefour together or not? Alex.

It's not within their province - it's the area covered by their health district.

I can't be bothered looking up the actual regulations, but I was disgusted to see a lot of couples in Mercadona today, shopping together, and some without masks or gloves.

I haven't seen where it says that when going shopping it must be driver only but suspect it's a misreading or disinformation and I'm surprised and disappointed if shops are allowing it.

Apart from it being completely unnecessary shopping as a couple is a dumb and thoughtless thing to do.

Why?

Because shopping together exposes both to contracting the virus instead of just one, or even picking it up on their hands or clothing and carrying it further afield.

Because it doubles the number of people in the same area which can only compromise social distancing.

Because it doubles, if not exponentially, increases the chances of non symptomatic victims (that's both of you for all you know) transmitting the virus to others and if nothing else about it pricks your bubble that it what you have the LEAST RIGHT OF ALL TO DO!

I seems that some people have yet to grasp this is not a game and that the virus is as potentially deadly today as it was on day one, all the lockdown has done is reduce the speed of it spreading, start playing silly buggers and taking the pi55 and it will likely end very badly - and that could mean for YOU AND YOURS!

Still think going shopping holding hands is a good idea?

Hello. Thanks for the unnecessary diatribe. The post was relating to being in the car together for the first time in weeks with the destination of a supermarket simply random. No mention at all of the, apparently you at least, unspeakable affection of holding hands. Alex.

I was replying to the thread not anybody in particular.

BTW Diatribe

a forceful and bitter verbal attack against someone or something.

You think ?

As I understand it, two people can now go food shopping together.

However, there's something of a disconnect about the Phase 1 rules. Where these allow the opening of other retail outlets smaller than 400 square metres, they clearly say that customers must keep two metres apart. So why one rule for supermarkets and another for other retailers?

As several of us have commented, people are now going round the supermarkets in pairs. I personally think that is downright stupid. OK, the supermarkets are entitled to allow that, but they could equally insist that it's one person per trolley or pull-along.

It seems that those supermarkets consider the ringing of the tills to be more important than customer and staff safety.

Hi, there seems to be quite a lot of confusion regarding the Phase 1 transition period regarding the use of vehicles, and travelling restrictions. We live in Torre DL Horadada, and up to now have been using the very local Supermarkets. With ref to the new rule relaxation, I believe we can now go further afield, for instance, to Iceland in Cabo Roig, or Lidl at Playa Flamenca, as they both still fal within the same Health District. However, as we can now both travel in the same car, being from the same household, it is still not possibe for both to enter the Supermarket as the single shopper rule still apparenty applies. Does anyone know if this is the correct interpretation of the new Phase 1 rules

We had an appointment at the bank and it was nice to know it was ok to go in the car together. No way would we both go shopping together,  common sense would tell you NOT to do it.
