Changing address for dogs microchip

My 2 dogs were born and micro chipped in Tenerife, they have all vaccinations up to date and I have moved to El Campello.

I spoke to a local vet who told me it would be 45,00 euro per dog to change the address to me new address, if I didn't and I lost my dog(s) the information on the microchip would not show anything as I am not registered in this area.

I looked on REIAC.es which looks like a Spanish wide official site and put in the microchip numbers and my name and mobile number is there. My mobile or email has not changed, only my address.

Are there any vets on this website that can advise if this payment is normal, or even if I need to do anything as the important information, ie my mobile number is correct.

My vet charged me €15 to transfer from UK to Spain.

The system is EU wide.

Our cat was chipped in France, the CoA to Spain was done via a form from the internet and cost the grand total of €4.92 plus a stamp to post it.

I suppose €15 is not unreasonable if a vet's time is involved to do it but €45 is nothing more than a p155 take!

Just a quick update re changing autonomous regions of Spain with your dog.

I was recommended to visit Eurocan in El Campello, so I did, and they could not have been more helpful. They put one of my dogs microchip numbers into the system and my mobile number and name does come up. They were not sure of what the police procedure is, if a dog is found (ie) do they have their own inhouse vet or use one closest to the police station.

My dogs are booked in for today for annual injections so I will ask them to check the microchip and see what it says.

They confirmed that the cost to change my address and any other info is 18,00 euro per dog, or I could just buy a dog tag which would be fine if the dog was lost but if stolen it could easily be removed.

Either way good advise and a more acceptable price.
