Hi we are supposed to be coming to our holiday home in Aigues in October.

We keep hearing that cases are rising but we aren’t sure about our area ?

Does anybody know the situation in and around Aigues and El Campelo?

We know we will have to quarantine on our return to the Uk but really don’t want to be putting ourselves of any greater risk than necessary.
On the news they don’t seem to mention fatalities arising from COVID in Spain just positive tests.

Any further information would be gratefully received to help us make an informed decision as to come or not

Thanks In adva

Andy

I hear comments a lot on this forum about how safe Spain is compared to the Uk unfortunately the numbers don’t stack up Spain has over 12000 cases again today

In total 584000 which is a lot more than the Uk however the Uk may be two weeks behind Spain so to be totally honest no one really knows all of Europe is struggling to contain this virus we love our life living in Spain but we have family in the Uk who feel as safe as one can at such times,

This is not a competition.  It’s a worldwide pandemic. It never went away and cases are increasing again in almost every country and most are doing their best to contain and protect its citizens.

Yesterday I received photos of my family of 6 in the UK celebrating a birthday together,

They are all in a family bubble. No masks. happy and relaxed. Aware of the seriousness of the covid but getting on with life.

I compare this to ourselves,  Distancing, wearing masks and stressed to the eyeballs !

Where would I rather be ? but with the Quarentine we could not fly on Friday as planned.

Incidentally it should also have been my 80th Birthday party.

Not everyone. I mean the sensible ones.. in either Country are wrong, just treating things differently in my view.   Take care everyone

I was in El Campello at the start of August and it was quiet. Admittedly, I felt a lot safer in Spain, as wearing masks and social distancing was the norm. It was a marked contrast when I returned to the UK - not many masks being worn anywhere, and people not keeping their distance. I arrived in the UK just after they reimposed the 14 day quarantine rule, but I didn't have to fill in any forms, and there was nobody in the airport to check despite me arriving on a flight from Spain. I self quarantined at home for the required 14 days out of duty, but to be honest nobody knew I was doing it apart from my work and my family. In such a situation, I wondered how many other people on my flight chose not to self quarantine as they would have gotten away with not doing so. That is the difference between Spain and the UK.

We were in Campello Friday. Everyone wearing masks, bars and restaurants open, all be it quiet. All shops and supermarkets open, no gloves required now, but must sanitise.

The crowds have gone and you can park again. The Covid case for El Campello are still low, and we have only had 1 case in Busot, but think its inevitable that we may get more.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Fashion masks. Yes chin, wrist, elbow or just on a chair or table, a good way to collect any virus, then pop it on your face & inhale! all feeling safe? V

We were in EC til 25/8 for a month...saw almost everyone wear masks along seafront where we walked every morning.. Went to our favourite restaurant the first week (indoor) as very few people and we felt safe.. next week it was packed, think mainly because the Spanish were on holidays by then: one table of 18, young people getting up/down without putting on masks, even the restaurant staff weren't happy.. we didn't go to another resto after that as we didn't want to take any risks, shame but everyone has to evaluate their own personal risks.

In our urb. everyone maintained distances - apart from the pool I think, no annual get together sadly.. ... We also drove down and could see the big difference between France and Spain... and we weren't really surprised when the numbers went up in France - hardly anyone respecting the distancing and masks also hanging around chin etc... Needless to say numbers have gone up - even if the numbers of those being tested has also increased dramatically too... Think it will be a while before things stabilise everywhere... everyone really needs to maintain the same rules - masks and distancing they're the only solution - even when it's hot, there's still a while for a vaccine and then there's the delay in producing it for everyone...  To be honest we got used to wearing masks- bought Spanish washable ones online which are really comfortable to wear, Spanish neighbour told me she got stopped by the police for wearing an 'see-through' mask (which she needed for medical reasons)...so I'm guessing like everywhere - things depend on local police/situation/enforcement or not..
