I have a hire car provided by my insurance after a road traffic accident.

I have now been informed that my car is a total loss. The insurance company extended the car hire until today and we have now received notification that it is extended to the 8th and can not be extended beyond that.

Whats the situation. Can I return the car to Alicante airport or am I not allowed to do that during the lockdown ?

I bought a new car (paid in full) on the Thursday before the lockdown, Guess what I cant pick the car up !!

Returning hire cars is permitted but you can't have somebody follow you to drive you back so you'll have to take public ransport - if available - or get a taxi.

I'd have thought that if your new car were ready to drive away it would be a justifiable journey to pick it up and even if the dealer were officially in lockdown it wouldn't be unreasonable for someone to open the door to let you do so.

Rotten timing!

Won't they collect the car?
