Advice wanted on smell problems from local tip

Hi all,

We are looking at buying a property in el Campello and have seen in Spanish media reports of issues with a bad smell coming from the tip, which I believe is approx. 2km from the area we’ve looked at which is Urbanización El Poblet.

The most recent article I can find is from last week which says that there will be 12 million euros invested to resolve the issues, and one from January this year regarding political assurances that it will be resolved. This makes me think that the smell must still be a problem - does anyone know if that is the case? I’m mainly interested to know if it’s a major issue, if it’s a year-round problem and if there is faith locally that the issue will be resolved?

El Poblet is not El Campello. We live about 3 kilometres away from El Poblet in Coveta Fuma (beautiful). El Poblet is not what we would describe as the most desirable area - very quiet, isolated even. Never noticed a smell there though. Good luck, Alex.

Thank you Alex that’s very useful!

We don’t mind the isolation element too much as we will be using it for holidays with kids and we both drive.

We have also looked at Coveta Fumà, it’s stunning! But our budget keeps us out of there for now.

I dont know the area but if there are problems flagged up. I personally would look somewhere else.

I disagree that coveta fuma is a better area than cal D’or ,which is in the poblets area. It maybe picturesque but hard walking in hot weather with narrow driving,bus has stopped its route through there. The bar area has a decided “Benidorm “ feel and not as last classy as around “pueblo Acantilado “ hotel down the road. Regards the smell ,yes on going work going on and all year but only odd times and not how it was when it started. We don’t like it on occasion but not a problem now as it doesn’t last long.
