Hi, we are looking to buy a holiday home in Alkabir and I am just wondering if this is still a good complex for purchasing, especially if we are going to let it out. We have a 3 year old and will use it ourselves a couple of times a year. Family will also use it a lot!

Does it have local amenities within walking distance? We are not bothered about really lively nightlife as we have a child but we are more than happy to get the tram/taxi when out on our own to get into El Campello town itself or even Benidorm. We've stayed in El Campello a couple of times so we know the transport situation quite well. We will also probably hire a car for when we are out there but only use it for grocery shopping etc.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I can't help with anything else except renting out as a holiday let and this is a fantastic guide;

Davebev1's guides: Renting out your property as a holiday let in Spain

Especially note about friends and family staying if you don't go for the licence.

Some communities may restrict the number of tourist lets and/or charge higher community fees.

Do not rely on assertions from the estate agents that you either don't need a licence or it will be no problem, if the town hall say it is not compatible for a holiday let, you won't get a licence.

Some town halls are taking over a year before making a decision and that is just the first stage. You cannot advertise until you have the licence.

Thank you, that's extremely helpful. Would you know if Rental Management Companies would help with the majority of laws or is it the responsibility of the landlord?

Is the Alkabir development the ones with pointy chimneys? I think it is. I've never been inside it but walked past it plenty of times on the walk between Covetra Fuma and EC. I've not explored the area around it but it's always struck me that there isn't much there. From memory we once wandered onto what would be the local beach and weren't impressed, so didn't stay. I might be getting my little beaches in that area mixed up, so best double-check that.

When we were looking for somewhere to buy in the area this development always came up as good value, but from the outside, walking past, the whole place seems pretty tired with no facilities.

As I say, we never explored the immediate outside area, only walk past it regularly, and have never been inside it, so my views above might be entirely wrong.

EDIT: Should also add that I've only ever walked along the road between it and the ocean, which by the looks of it on Google maps, is the back of it, not the front, which seems to open out on a main road with some shops opposite. Looking at a development from the back never gives too good an impression, so likely what I've put above is entirely wrong!

I found this holiday let in Alkabir but you can't automatically assume that every property will qualify or if the community has put a limit on numbers or the licence may have been obtained before June 2018 when stricter rules were put in place.

If you google Urbanizacion Alkabir you will find a variety of reviews. The beach doesn't look very child friendly and because it is quite old some of the properties are showing their age but transport links are good with the tram and the on-site pub has good reviews.

There are 2 parts to Alkabir. Alkabir and Alkabir Playa. The white one (Alkabir) is a bit rundown but still rents out quite well. Alkabir Playa (orange buildings) a better location and next to the sea. They rent out quite well although I was told that they were originally built for Spanish residents, not for letting. Not easy at the moment getting tourist licences

Hi , I am a bit late to comment as I have only just seen this sorry !

We bought on alkabir just over 3 years ago . We love it . We are on the white older development. We use it as a holiday home about 6/7 times a year but don’t rent out . We are now quite familiar with the area. Transport great ( bus at the front tram at the back) 15/ 20 min stroll to main town. The site has the best pool complex in the area, a couple of on site bars and restaurants, plus others in walking distance. Some of the properties do look a bit tired but many are lovely. The complex is whitewashed and lots of well kept gardens. Let me know if you want anymore info

Just wanted to confirm the above comment. I have been doing some jobs on the white (older) Alkabir Urbanisation. Some parts do look a bit rundown, but whilst I have been working here I have grown to like the urbanisation more. Some properties just need a bit of updating but the gardens etc are well kept. There appear to be a lot of the properties that are occupied full time and there are bars etc on the urbanisation. Well worth a look.

Hi there, we are looking for a property in Campello and just found this area

we stayed a bit further out at Easter nearer to El Poblet which we found to be too far out and a trek (car journey) to El Campello

if you have time could you give me some pros and cons, is the communal pool heated in winter etc (we are in the UK and as you intend to use for holidays and family)

much appreciated
