I think they come up the plug holes leave the plugs in it may help.

I've not seen any for a few days now. I presume.e they found their way in when a door was open. Sneaky b********.  I've been under the villa and fitted u bends on all the waste pipes a few years ago so shouldn't come up through the plug holes.

Haha interesting.  I will be moving to Spain and am currently looking at Busot, first choice and Elche, second choice as I want to be reasonably close to El Campello which just researching I have sort of fallen in love with a bit.  I now know the entertainment I have to look forward to cockroach killing championships.  I'm game :)

It's great fun! Sort of legalised murder!

In the past I've left the chemical, poisoned baits prior to locking up the property and have found the dead bodies when I've returned a few months later. Seems the bait attracts them. At one stage I found 13 dotted around the place!

My neighbour told me about a greener and safer alternative - Bicarbonate of Soda! I was a bit sceptical, but it does work. I just put a spoonful on a paper napkin and leave these on the floor. Seems that when they digest it, the build up of gases internally kills them.  

Now it's my go to deterrent and I've only found two or three when I return after being away for several weeks. 

How many are people getting per week? Are they tending to bite?

An update....

I returned to my apartment earlier in the month and there weren't any dead bodies  around, but one was inside on the wall above the front door. Got rid of it, by flicking it outside using a fly swatter.

The bicarbonate of soda is working well and also it's safer and greener.

In the past I've used an aerosol called "Zoom" but, despite wearing a mask, I could still smell it. Those chemicals they use to kill these insects cannot be safe for our lungs in the long term. 

Just an observation.

Someone mentioned to me that Ajax is even more effective than bicarb of soda for humanely keeping away these creepy crawlies (ie they dont cross over the line).  Though Im not sure whether Ajax is so environmentally friendly as bicarb..
