Old furniture disposal

Hi all, considering buyer in alkabir , house comes furnished. Some of it is ok, but we would want to buy new mattresses and sofas. How do we dispose of the old stuff without our own transport?

Ask your town hall, and they'll tell you what day to put large items by the bin. I don't know how they decide how often to send a vehicle round to collect large items - it may just be when there's enough demand to warrant a trip.

Then it's a race between the council and the white van men!

When we originally moved in, I had a bed to dispose of. I just put it on our veranda with a big sign saying GRATIS. The bell rang within an hour and one of our neighbours took it.

Go into the town hall and ask if they can help you dispose of it. In my area of Spain they have a notice on the dustbins with a telephone number to ring and make arrangements for a free collection of items like that. They tell you where to leave them on a certain day and they are then collected but they must be informed first.

Hi sam I just bought sofas beds ect and the guys who delivered were more than happy to take the old stuff away, just ask at the shop where you buy your new stuff. Alternatively I'v found since being out here anything I put out by the rubbish containers is gone within a couple of houts.
