First ever post - please be kind

Hello all

We’re looking to purchase a property locally which has been unoccupied for a couple of years.

If, as I suspect, the utilities have been disconnected does anyone know how much it would cost to get them reconnected please ?

Also is it a major job ?

I’m assuming that it’s Gas / Electric / Water / Phone.

Thanks in advance as I have lots of questions still to come.

Hi Water will cost you about 139 euros for contract, electric you will probably require a boliton issued by an independant electrician this will cost 200 euros plus any work that may be required to bring up to speck, your best bet in El Campello is to go in and speak to Jose at M.C, Electrics on Ave La Mar in Campello that is the street that goes up from Inmobliaria 2000 about 100 metres on the left, he will do everything for you without ripping you off speaks english top guy i have used after an english electrician tried to rip me off

You will need an habitation certificate to get water reconnected if it has been "cortadoed" IE disconnected.

Could Jose issue the Boliton ?

Thanks again

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thanks RayD

I think I was assuming that as it was empty, the owners would have wanted to avoid any standing charges so would have had everything disconnected.

Hopefully you’re right and it should be easy to get it all back up and running.

Fingers crossed

Thanks Andrew,

How would I get this certificate?

Is it just something we get once the house is purchased ?

Our habitation certificate cost 450eu as we had to get an architect to draw up plans of the property and it was a bit of a rush job as we were due over, you could perhaps get it done cheaper, it just emphasizes the need of a good solicitor.

Hi Yes you have found the right one, yes they issue bolitons, the company are 4 brothers, Jose and his wife are usually in the shop, and the other 3 do the electrical work, very trustworthy, if you explain to him the problem he will advise you what to do, as regards the water if you go into the Aguas de Alicante office in town you can sign up there and it will all be sorted in a couple of days the office is up near town hall, you do not need to pay anyone to do it for you
