Booked an apartment for 5 months in El Campello (Casa Bonita, between beach and Lidl) starting in just over a weeks time.  All has gone well so far, contracts and conversations on WhatsApp but suddenly one week before sailing she has gone quiet and wont answer when I should meet her to hand the keys over.  Her two apartments are advertised on Booking.com, VRBO etc and she has been listing for several years with raving reviews so I wasn't worried about booking privately.

Is this something that happens there ie. scams or is it very manania and I will hopefully hear from her soon.  We have worked so hard for this new life and I would be gutted if we lost it all.  Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Thankyou

The type of scam is all too common but whether this is one who knows.

If this is it then the absence of a phone number is a massive red flag

How long has it been since she went quiet?

How about asking a friend to contact them from a different number/email address and enquiring about the dates you've booked?

Ive tried what they have suggest on several websites about scams and have asked to book the dates I have already booked but she still has them booked off so I feel a little better but I think if she is legitimate then when and if I do finally meet her then words are going to be said about her lack of correspondence

Not sure if this is any help but when I registered my letting property with Booking.com they required a licence number for the listing so I'm not sure how this property could get on there without one.

Also, in order to verify ownership and presumably that the property existed,  they sent the verification code to get the listing live by pigeon post to the actual property.

I have a couple of clients that come direct and I split the commission cost with them but I would never recommend booking direct using watsapp or text or email unless you have built a relationship with the owner first.

Did you pay through the website or direct?

Steve

I paid direct through bank transfer.

Were just going to come anyway, I will message her and tell her what time I will be there if she doesn't turn up then we will just find something else quickly and deal with it when were there.

Im not going to let this ruin over 10yrs of work and planning.

Will probably buy when were out there so this wont happen again
