Will be in the area looking at properties next week and wondering which area should concentrate on.

Have been to Denia and Javea many times but would prefer somewhere on the tram line.

Looking for an area that still has the Spanish feel off season (I know that not possible in the tourist season). Like old style Spanish bars and a few international restaurants to give a bit of choice.

As a 50 something male who is hoping to spend at least 3 months a year then would like an area where I can socialise with both Spanish I'm conversational level but also need some English speakers every now and then.

Any tips / guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I prefer EC, although I'm not that familiar with SJ. EC seems to have more going on and more life offseason. I'd say it's 50% Spanish, 50% other nationalities. Maybe 60/40. Brits don't make up the majority of the migrants, it's fairly even. Generally an older crowd, maybe 30 plus with most in the 45plus age group.

I live in El Campello. Its a very nice area and friendly, some good restaurants and local shops. I have been told, but not first hand experience that San Juan isn't as friendly as Campello. We have been to San Juan a few times and its more residential and built up.

Hi

My wife and I purchased in the little mountain village of Aigues just behind El Campello.

I have to say we spend a lot of time in Campelo when we are over and far prefer it to SJ.

This is purely our preference and I would suggest try spending as much time in each area and get the feel for them .

Like a previous post we think Campelo has a very friendly feel and plenty of places to stroll eat and drink etc with a lovely beach and prom

Hope this helps a little

Kind regards

Andy

Hi. My wife and I spend 2-3 months in El Campello each winter over Christmas. EC is a more stand alone town. Many supermarkets and other good shops. The beach side of town and the centre are separate. As has been said it is mainly Spanish off season. Not much to attract Brits if you’re looking for chips and beer! That is available up the coast in Benidorm.  Only one British bar as far as I know. San Juan for me is just somewhere on the way to Alicante. If you want a bit more choice the team to Alicante is cheap and only takes 30 mins. EC every time!
