Just been told that the aircon pre-install in my house is the worse the installer has ever seen in his whole career! Am looking for a second opinion/quote, just to make sure I’m not being hoodwinked, someone you have used?

Thanks

Steve

The usual excuse as to inflate the bill. Talk to Carrefour customer service in Alicante. They know reliable service people for their equipments.

Did the installer mention what was wrong with the pre install?

Usually the copper pipes should be sealed and not allow water ingress.

The indoor drainage needs to be clear of plaster.

Does the indoor pipework just stick out or is it in a box?

He said I had a list of “problems”!. One was that the copper pipes are open. Another was that the ducts are too big to get a decent flow, another was that the unit for downstairs couldn’t be fitted in the void in the garage ceiling due to the threat of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

Ok, the open copper pipes could cause a problem if they are also pointing upwards to allow water to get in. The remedy for that is to blow it all out with an Air Compressor. Usually the indoor units are sited above a bathroom or kitchen and so the air intake may have to be protected if its in a garage. Not sure about the duct size without looking but the units themselves are usually pretty big. You're doing right to get a second opinion.
