Hi there,  Can anyone tell me if it is legal for mobile home sites in Spain to charge a standing charge every quarter for their electricity meter.  If so is there a set price and how much is it please.  Also is there a standard price for a unit of electricity, if so what is the price or can they charge what they want?  Thanks in advance, Kath

That depends on whether or not a mobile home site has meters installed by the electricity provider, or whether it's something they've done themselves. If your bill comes from the mobile home company, then they can effectively charge what they wish, provided that's within the letting terms and conditions.

The standing charge is mandated by government and can't be avoided.

The price per kW/h depends entirely on the provider and the plan the supply is on.

For an understanding of Spanish electricity supply, look at:

It will depend on exactly who provides the supply, typically on a mobile home park the owner will be the actual supply company customer and then privately distribute power to the individual plots and in that case they can charge pretty much what they like both in recurring equipment rental cost and price per kWh. Ditto water and sewage services where provided.

If you are renting a plot or a home, and have a contract, then the charges should be laid out in that.

I'd be very surprised if Ibedrola would be willing to provide power to individual plots in such locations so you're probably stuck with whatever it is you have.

Crossed post but both saying the same thing.

And btw if the supply is privately provided I would doubt the 'mandated standing charges' apply but an owner can get around them anyway by making no charge and loading the kWh cost to compensate. I know this is how it works as I have friends who live on such a site.

Movingon, I thought you were looking into the viability of a solar panel, backed up by a generator, for your own mobile home, because of the inflated prices charged by the site?  If you were able to achieve that, perhaps an option for Kath and Colin?
