Problem

If you leave property for any length of time with no heating or ventilation, you will get mould due to the humid conditions. You can either buy dehumidifiers or leave trays of dehumidifying crystals, salt or cat litter around.

We had a holiday chalet in Norfolk so only really used in warm weather. We put trays of crystals in every room & never encountered any mould. Surprising how much water was collected in trays. Not expensive either. Good luck!

   on the advice  of neighbours we had ventilation holes (10cm dia.) put in just about every room, covered them with closable vents on the inside as they can get quite drafty in the winter). We when we go back to the UK we leave all internal doors open, including wardrobe doors and open all the vents. We had this done several years ago, never had any problems with mould since. 

 At the time it cost 50euros per vent, which included covers either side (but not the closable covers, I bought those from Leroy M.). The builder used a diamondtipped round bit and it took about 45 minutes per vent, some debris but nothing significant.
