Is my friend with a Chinese passport able to visit me with a return ti ket without a visa any sort?

If they live in the UK contact Spanish Embassy or Consulate.For reference my nephew visited with his Chinese wife pre Brexit but she had the right to remain in the UK and did not require any further visa for Spain.

Looks like a Schengen visa is required.

The following link explains the entry requirements for Chinese nationals:
If they are coming from China then a visa is required and only a 3 month stay allowed.
Also my stepdaughter visited us while she was studying in the UK and she required a visa as well.
