Portable gas heater not igniting pilot

I have similar problem on a butane heater and decided the cost to repair/replace the ignition was probably more than its worth so as I can hear the gas flow on depressing switch I simply light pilot light with a lighter and its been like that for 15yrs or so.

Regards

Yes my ignition/pilot light is the same. I bought one of the hand held gas lighter with the long flame tube. Sorted...

Hi thanks for your reply. I've tried that but does not seem to help. As far as I can see the pilot light is ignited by the spark and then the pilot light heats a bimetallic strip that opens the main value to light the main flame.  Maybe I need to concentrate on the bimetallic strip until main gas valve open?
