If you are a UK passport holder then you will need to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate in London, Manchester or Edinburgh.
You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements.

As posted above you need to apply for a non lucrative visa in the U.K. which is the first step on your journey of obtaining residencia here in Spain.
The current criteria is contained in that link, as from time to time the goalposts are changed as to how much finance you need to provide.
Good Luck - once you battled with all the red tape it will be well worth it.
