Can someone explain my electric Bill. My supplier is Baser.

Can someone explain my Electric Bill from Baser. Two Periods,in 24hours A (cheap) and B (dear) rates

Monthly Bill.       Units       Total Cost

February   A; =312   B=261    =68.86 euros

March       A= 361    B=215    =76.63 euros

April          A=350     B=169    =86.47 euros

It seems the less i use the more i pay,  ,if this is down to an increase  it must be some increase as in the dear period i used 35% less units in April compared to February although i used slightly more in the cheap period. but paid close on 33% more at 86,47    Is there  anyone out there  who could explain

Hi Tillyrafa,

Hard to say without seeing your bill.  I'm with Iberdrola and it's not easy to compare consecutive months, because the charges vary depending on how many days there are in each charging period, so I'd start by looking at that.  This also has an impact on the Standing Charge element of your bills, which are generally quite high in Spain.

Kind regards,

Kim

Also, if you are on a regulated tariff, the market rate per unit varies from month to month

Hi Kim

I'm also with Iberdrola, on their 'cheap 8 hours a day' plan. I've created an Excel spreadsheet and fill in the relevant details of my bill every month.

Fortunately the bill has a very good breakdown of all the separate items which make up the total charge, which I use to fill in the spreadsheet. So I start with the date range, then the number of days covered, which gives the standing charge when you multiply it by the daily standing charge rate. I do the same for the expensive and then the cheap KWhs used. The speadsheet works out from that info all the extras and taxes that will be charged, because its all proportional. Finally it gives me my daily average cost of electricity consumed in the period. Simples!

Unfortunately, it doesn't help you pay it....

I’ve given up with the whole thing of trying to pay less. The actual cost of the power itself is not enormous, but is made so by standing charges, taxes etc.

As we are not remotely organised sufficiently in our lives to always use power during cheap periods, I gave up and did the sums. On the face of it, taking the sum of the units charged of cheap night and mor expensive hours, multiplying the total kWh by the standard rate would result in savings of a few euros. SoI havechanged our rate back to standard and will await the next bill!

The only thing I do, is go each year to Iberdrola to ask for my discount for the new year.

Baser offered this explanation to me ,  as to  why you can use less and pay more

In answer to your request with number , we inform you that in the regulated market the prices are not fixed and canchange even in a daily basis.

That is the reason why having less consumption you can see higher amounts charged in your bill.

Even in this case the regulated market prices are lower than in the free market and the total amount would be cheaper in any case.

In order to fully understand the differences between bills we will suggest you to check both the readings (kw consumed) and the  prices of the period billed that
you will find in the same bill.

We are available in 900.902.947 if you have further questions.
Kind regards.
