The Irish passport confers the right to FoM throughout the EU (not getting into the Schengen differentiation here) so you're good to go.

However, if you move over now with the intention of staying permanently, you are required by law to begin the Residencia process & register as a resident for tax purposes, subject to the usual health insurance provision, etc so there's no point waiting for or worrying about the 90/180 rule....

Hi,

If you have an Irish passport and want to stay in Spain longer than 90 days you will need sign on the foreigners register at the national police station within 90 days of arrival. You will need to prove you can meet the income and healthcare requirements.

Can I also suggest that once you are in receipt of your passport you apply for an Irish Passport Card (if you havent yet applied for the passport you can apply for both at the same time). The card is similar in size to an ID card and fits snugly into a wallet ar purse. It is easier to carry with you at all tines rather than a Passport (Spanish Police can ask for ID at any time). You can also use the card instead of your Passport when travelling within the EU/EEA and entering and exiting the UK. Details by clicking this link:
