No, you would be an illegal immigrant.

People have stayed in Spain illegally without residency for years, but that's only because the movement of EU citizens isn't monitored.
The good thing about Brexit is that in future the length of stay of UK citizens will be monitored, and hopefully all the illegals will be deported.

Spain (badly) needs the revenue from tourists (82,6 mio. in 2018 spending a total of 90 bn.) and in fact never was very strict regarding lenghts of stay, even when 60 years ago passports were stamped when entering or leaving. So, no panic.

Not true. My grandfather overstayed by about a month once and was fined and stopped from returning for 6 months! That was in the early 1980's. He then decided to do it properly, relocated to Spain and obtained residency.
I'm with Jim on this - the illegals need to be caught out and fined, done for past taxes and tax evasion, and then hopefully deported with the relevant number of months/years bar from the whole of the Schengen area. Chances are those type of people are the first to complain about illegal immigrants in the UK.
can you get temp residency, if so how.
