For sure you will not be allowed into a shop as a couple and with the Guardia becoming even more strict in enforcing the car single occupancy rule venturing out as a couple is almost guaranteed to get you stopped and questioned and quite likely turned back.

Have you explored the options of going by taxi of having someone else do some shopping for you. I hear some public transport is still running, albeit in reduced frequency, so is that a possibility. They may not be the most convenient but we're all having to make compromises and adjustments and some more than others.

Perhaps most critical factor for you though is your Diabetes as sufferers are said to be amongst the highest at risk of life threatening consequences from the virus so more than any should do their absolute utmost to avoid unneccessary exposure. My wife is type 2 and we have resolved that she is not setting foot off the property until this is over - or at least positively under control - however long that may be.

Not seeking to minimise you husbands problem but from what little I know of fibromyalgia as physically debilitating as it may be (if he can drive then it must be at least partly manageable) I don't think it's a condition which leads to a compromised immune system so I would say you need to balance your red risk factor against his discomfort and include in that a consideration of how much more difficult it could become for him if you did fall victim and he had to assume the role of your carer, or god forbid you died.

The supermarkets seem to be being sympathetic to the elderly and infirm, Consum in Catral I believe have an hour in morning specially for them (anybody confirm?), so given the relative risks I think you should be asking yourself if your husband doing the shopping is really as impossible as you suggest. Can he take a fold up chair to rest on for instance?

Am I being over dramatic, perhaps, but with this thing spreading as rapidly as it is, and with the potential consequences of catching it, erring on the side of caution has to be the sensible strategy.

Very helpful and informative advice. Do you have someone who can shop for you and leave it outside your door?

Hope you get sorted and most importantly stay safe.

Hi Christine No unfortunately all the residents on our park are elderly so they must look after themselves. We have only been here 3 months and know very few people. Looking on the good side it will help me stop eating.

Keep safe

Hi Nikki, I think it is safer that you both stay indoors for the duration although due to your conditions you could go together (keeping some evidence of health conditions with you) but much safer to try to find someone to do it for you. The charities will be stepping up as they always do in difficult times so try contacting Help Vega Baja, they may be able to put you in contact with someone locally who can help.

On this subject, would it be possible to collate a list of people willing to help in different areas?
