We are looking for recommendations for alarm companies.  We have read a lot of horror stories and would be grateful for recommendations and advice.

An alarm system is no effective protection and depending on location can be completely useless. Better get some ideas watching "Home Alone" and find out what, as an example, nicotin sulphate and other cheimcals like phosphrus compunds can do.

I have had a Securitas system for over 10 years with only the odd minor problem.

It is monitored in Madrid, they talk to you in your own language, the system has a camera in each detector/room and the pictures are in Madrid in a few seconds. They will call out the Guardia, send post a 'vigilante' if necessary and also call out your preferred key holder if you are away.

It communicates via the mobile network and has a SIM card.  There are no wires except a power lead to the 4inch square control box that you can put anywhere.

You do not have a keypad and numbers to remember.  You set it by pushing a button by the door as you leave and have a fob to un-set it when you get back. They also maintain the system and change batteries annually or when needed (the system tells them when)

All in all it's a very good system.  When we put it in it cost us a Euro a day.  Now it's €47 a month. You are not charged for call outs.

Thank you for this.

We had heard of this company but had read negative feedback regarding customer service.  This may be a silly question but does Securitas have keys to your property or doe they manage via owner/key holder?

Thanks in advance.

I have never had a problem with getting them out if it should be needed.  It's that long ago since I called them I can't remember how long it took, but if they had messed me about I would have remembered.

They do not hold keys.  You decide your own call out list and advise them and if the alarm goes off they will call them in order of your priorities.  If they can't get anyone they will call the Guardia and send a 'vigilante' to look after the place.

You provide your keyholders with a fob and you can buy as many as you want.  Securitas obviously have your number so you will be first port of call.  You can tell them who to call on your list.  They can talk to you through the alarm control box if needs be.

I hope this helps.

We have a Securitas system fitted in our apartment in Villamartin. They email a monthly status report of the alarm system to us in the UK. Excellent company to deal with to date.

Kind Regards

  Jim

SECURITAS  902-121-122.  You can speak to them in English and get them out for a survey and quote.
I can't give you any prices because it's a long time since the system was put in.

There are no wires to run so you can take it with you if you move.
