We're hoping to visit Elche tomorrow  - having never been there before we're hoping to be able to safely eat outside for lunch somewhere.  If anyone has any suggestions thanks

Safely? What danger do you think you might be in?

Reviews found on links from Google Maps are the best guide in my experience, but you do need to sort them to see the most recent ones first.  Any comments more than a few months old may well be irrelevant now.

Hi, not knowing what kind of thing you want to have for lunch, it is hard to give a recommendation, however, I have been to Elche many times, and always end up at Cafeteria Africa at some point, because it is right opposite the Basilica and its plaza, but is very reasonable and informal, with an extensive menu from tapas/toasted sandwiches, to "platos combinados" There are other restaurants there too, if you want something more upmarket. The "Gloriata", nearby, is also a nice spot, lined with eateries.

As for being "safe", I haven't been since the pandemic began, but I'm sure that they will be adhering to all the safety rules.

I hope you have a great day out!

Thanks have looked at google maps but could take a while to go through them all.  I'm referring to Covid and safe social distancing between tables etc..

Thanks for the advice - well I think in general the is more respect to rules here than I've seen in France!  Would be just nice to be able to have something to eat outside.  I know what you mean about being safe - haven't been in a restaurant since last July!  (when we saw the 16 people at the table behind us and everyone getting up/down without their masks we decided to give them a miss for a while!)

thanks for the tips - will be nice to actually get to visit somewhere rather than doing shopping/DIY!
