Good Morning,

Has anyone had any problems with Wise today (or recently) ?

I have a standing order set up from my UK account to my Wise Gbp account and according to Barclays it was sent this morning at 01.11 hrs, but as yet 10 hours later, it hasn't appeared in my Wise account.

Normally bank transfers in the same currency Gbp/Gbp appear within minutes but having just checked .... nothing has appeared.

I have sent them an email as I can't get them by phone at the moment,

This is unusual for Wise as they are normally very good.

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary

I had a similar problem last weekend - the money eventually appeared after about 2 days!

I'm also a bit annoyed by the recent changes to the app, which now feels terribly slow!

Cheers

Hi Steve,

The money eventually turned up earlier today, so it took a day and a half.

After calling Barclays in the UK to confirm the SO had left my account (which it had) and then Wise who at that point hadn't received it, I decided to do a manual "test" transfer which took about 6 seconds from the time it left the UK and arrived at Wise.

I didn't realise until after I'd spoken to barclays and Wise that a SO order can take up to two working days because of the way they are processed.

Obviously doing it yourself online you are in control and as most of us know the money transfers within minutes (well normally)

Regards

Gary

I made a small regular transfer from Natwest to Sabadell with Wise yesterday and the money was in my account immediately.

However today I made a substantial tranfer of Euros to Natwest with Wise and it didn't go through immediately. I didn't receive the customary email "Your money is on it's way" so in view of the sum involved was a little tense.

I looked at the transaction on the Wise home screen which just said "sending". I clicked on the transaction and got the explanation page with a timeline where it said it may take a little while for Sabadell to release the money and the transaction was likely to complete on Monday. (The money has gone from my Sabadell balance by the way)

There's no way of finding out but I do wonder if Wise are pausing transfers temporarily in order to spot gain interest on international markets before releasing them back into the transfer! I'd be interested to hear from anyone with banking experience as to whether that theory could be correct....

That's an interesting theory Steve especially when you consider the current volatility of the Gbp/Eur exchange rate. I've had the "sending" and "timeline" messages several times in the past but I always just assumed I'd hit a busy time.

I've been using Wise for a long time and they've never given me any great cause for complaint or concern.... but if you ever need to contact them by phone make yourself a cup of tea and get comfortable in your favourite chair 😁

That said, when you do eventually get through they're very nice and helpful.
