Good morning,

We have lived in Malaga since transferring from UK in 2010.

I was autónomo for 8 years, having now retired through early ill health from cancer. I am 54 years young. (I receive crown pension from UK)

I currently receive my healthcare through social security system here in Andalusia since 2013, my question is this:

I am looking to purchase a forever home in Elda, am I able to transfer my state funded healthcare when registering with a new GP?

Thanks for time in reading my post.

Regards     Troy.

The Spanish Health System is national so you will be covered if you have access to it via your social security contributions. It's administered at  community level. So when you go to another community for a while, holiday or otherwise, you should go to the nearest state health centre and register as 'desplazado' to get a temporary health care card. When you move permanently go to the nearest state health centre and ask to register there. The might want a padron, they might not, depends on the day really.
