Possible Scam?

I have received the attached letter by post and it appears genuine but….. I wonder if anyone else has been invited to complete this survey as I say it appears genuine but they have given me an order number and a password and I am a bit concerned about what the survey will be asking because they will obviously know it is me answering. It says it is from the National Institute of Statistics. Any advice would be welcome, it has been a week since the original letter and now I have had this one, thanks, Alan

If you're uncomfortable then just ignore it. Despite it saying it's mandatory (a bit suspicious in itself) I find it hard to believe there is any compulsion or material consequence for not participating.

Thanks, it was the mandatory that put me off, I think I will ignore it

Is there a contact number/email/address you could make contact with and confirm that the letter is genuine?

There's a web address in the letter you could look at safely. It might tell you more. I'd also be asking myself how they know my middle name.

It does seem a bit random but at first glance I don't think this is a scam. At least not at first look. Is their postal address visible anywhere on the letter - it should be. You could also scan the barcode and have a look at that?

The INE have been carrying out the survey for some time now, so it may well be genuine.

I was asked last year to do the survey, which I declined, and I wasn't told it was mandatory.

Under the user credentials it does say that it's mandatory and that if you do not do as requested someone will phone you to conduct the survey, that would seem a good time to play the "no hablo español" card!
