Desperately Seeking our old friend Jill Ryan - 1993 emigree...
· Desperately Seeking Jill Ryan (1993 emigree)
Hello folks,
After coming across some old correspondence whilst having a sort out, my wife and I have joined Facebook and created this profile so that we can ask for your help in perhaps finding out whatever happened to an old friend and neighbour with whom we lost touch after she emigrated to the Benidorm/Finestrat area in 1993. Her name is Jill Ryan and she sold her home in Old Hall Close, Amblecote, Stourbridge, West Mids. (we were then living directly opposite her in Dove Ridge) to buy a piece of land, build a new home, and start a new life near Finestrat. We corresponded with her on three occasions, but both she and we underwent a few changes of address during 1994 and sadly we eventually lost touch altogether. The addresses for her that we had were:
A45 La Siesta, Calle Paris, Rincon de Loix, 03500 Benidorm, Alicante (valid Nov. 1993 - Feb. 1994). Then:
Cafe des Artistes, Local 21, Edifico Oficianas Benloix, Calle Almeira, 0350 Benidorm. (no response 1994+ ?).
She tells us (Nov.93) that she has bought a piece of almond grove land, low on the mountain, at Finestrat. The photo of her on her plot with her dog Lily (dated Dec.93 which we shall try to attach here) gives a location 'Los Cremates, Finestrat'. She mention her plot as being near Puig Campana mountain. She was hoping to have her home, purchased from Belgium (a kit?) erected in late Spring - early Summer 1994.
Some general info which might help tie our lost friend down:
She was working doing taxi runs in her VW Polo to and from the airport, and also tourist sight-seeing tours out to Guadalest and the waterfalls at Algar.
She had become close friends with a 53 year old chap who was a singer at The Cocoa Beach Bar of the Reamar Hotel in the centre of Benidorm. This fella had been a film stuntman, who had worked with James Garner on 'Grand Prix' and also Bond films too in the 60s. He had been badly injured at some point in a car crash. Amongst their circle of friends was Brian Reid (brother of comedian Mike).
We would be most grateful if anyone who knows of Jill could let us know anything (better still if she could be made aware of this post so she can contact us herself if she so desires). Please ask any older community members that you know (who may not be computor savvy - like us!) if they recall this lovely lady at all (if they knew her, we suspect that they would not forget her, and her zest for life quickly).
Now in her mid to late 70s, Jill would remember us as a 30s couple with a green marina van and motorbikes.
Thanks in anticipation of your help, Nigel & Sharon Cox.
Apologies in advance if we have broken any forum etiquette with this well meaning post.
