I am on the Portsmouth to Santander Ferry at the beginning of December but it gets in at about 2-30 in the afternoon. As I normally drive down to Villajoyosa in one go I am trying to find out if there is a big delay when disembarking?

We came back in July.

Wasn't too bad but depends if yours is one of the random cars checked by customs.

We only had a check for food items!

Might be less stressful to plan a stopover.

In September, straight through Customs (although others weren't so lucky!), the only delay was the queue for passport checks. That was about 20 muns, less than half what it was uk side.

That sounds good, coming back to the UK in March was a nightmare about 4 hours to get through UK customs.

Yes I think an overnight stop near Burgos might be a good idea.
