I have a 12" by 8" colour photo of both the Twin Towers and The Statue of Liberty. I took these photographs with a 35mm Pentax whilst on a visit to New York in January 2000. I had these framed professionally in the UK.

As part of the nest building process, I hung the photographs on the shaded part of my balcony in Formentera Del Segura. As the years have passed, the photographs are showing signs of fading, possibly due to indirect sunlight.

I still have the colour negatives.

My question is:

Can anyone please advise me where I could find an outlet in the surrounding areas where I could have new photos printed?

From a technical point of view can Black and White versions be reproduced from the colour negatives?

I know they can be reproduced in the UK, however I don't wish to bring them down to Spain as part of my hand luggage just in case they become damaged.

Thanks for the clear, step by step guide relating to digital copying from original negatives, it makes perfect sense. I'm 99% technophobic, perhaps I'll get round to doing this at some stage in the future..

Incidentally, I've just looked at the reverse side of the negatives and it looks like, as you hinted, they are slightly damaged by what looks like faint water marks. I don't wish to try and clean them myself.

In the meantime, I appreciate that any reputable printing place should be able to manage what I'm looking for.

This brings me to the original question, which was, Can anyone please advise me where I could find an outlet in the surrounding areas where I could have new photos printed? On reflection I should have asked if anyone could recommend a professional photographer in the Costa Blanca area, who could make a copy for me.

As you can appreciate, sometimes when something is put in writing, it occasionally doesn't translate well and can come across as being ungrateful.
