Hi all, we bought a 2 bed apt in July 2017 and have been charged for electric roughly 30e in August, 70e in November then 60e in December, seems a lot as we have only used the place for a week in July and 2 weeks in September. The electric has been switched off when we aren't there. Does this seem average or not?
I can't query it as I haven't had a bill at my home address so no account number etc.

Hi there has been quite a few threads on this subject, can I suggest that you type in the search bar at the top of the page ‘Electricity charges’ and in the box next to it type ‘everywhere’and it will bring the posts up. I am with Iberdrola and have signed up for their free app and have access to my bills electronically plus I can contact them,I’ve even changed my contract using the app. If you don’t have a smart phone you can still register and access via their website, once you have your contract details to hand. If you are with another company I’m sure they will have something similar. My bills for 2 bed apt. when I’m not there, vary due to how many days I’m charged for,my bill for 33 days was for €15.92 latest bill 36 days €17.86 3.3kw

New Subscribers to Electricity are always put on the highest Tariff - so you really need to find out what else is on offer but the Electricity companies appear to be a law unto themselves as they all have a standing charge for both the Meter cupboard and the cabling to your home which they charge for monthly. I had an on going battle with Iberdrolla and finally accepted a tariff which offers reduced price electricity in the evenings so my monthly bills have dropped from 40-50 p/m to 30 p/m - and I only visit 3-4 times per annum
