Hello,

I’m thinking about changing my bank from sabadell due to cost of running the account. Can anyone give me some ideas of who are the cheapest & who also speak English.

Thanks

Hi, My wife and I have an account with Sabadell and have never paid any charges, we have our pensions paid in to the account and have several direct debits, but we have a small savings account which is not used other than it holds the amount we opened it with (100 euros) I think the savings account makes the difference and I'm sure it would work just as well with 20euros

Hi Kaztorres

I have a Starling, Revolut and just opened a transferwise account to rearrange the DD's to have them refused again today, I am going to bite the bullet and transfer all the DD's to Sabadell and pay the 35 euros a quarter as I can't be chewed to keep trying to change banks where there is no phone number just email to get intouch its a proper paff.

My advice suck it up its Spain.....!!

Andrew

Are you saying the Transferwise DD was refused?

Hi Kaztorres

Its called the key account we only opened it so we could get the bankers draft for the house purchase, we were going to close it as we had all the DD's coming from our Starling Euro account but with Brexit this has all changed.

Hi Portet

It was rejected was the email I received, I am going to bite the bullet and keep the Sabadell account apart from the 35 euros a quarter it has the advantage none charging cash withdrawls of 650 a day plus all DD's will authorise and we can arrange interest free easier through this account DD's

I have a TransferWise Borderless account and am having no problems with direct debits. Did you make sure to quote the appropriate IBAN? For a DD in Spain you need to quote the Belgian IBAN associated with your euro balance. If you quoted the UK IBAN it would be rejected. Also, TransferWise does not include an overdraft facility, so if your DD would leave you overdrawn, it won't be paid.

Hi Steve

I quoted BE IBAN community agent said it was rejected and Iberdrola hasn't accepted either so I am biting the bullet and sending Sabadell details.

To be honest there is the cash withdrawl scenario also to be considered as we aim to spend the 180 days a year allowaable in Spain once all settles down so the Sabadell account may be better long term.

Cheers

Andrew
