Hi all,
I've never received the original copy of my NIE Certificate. I contacted our solicitor who applied for it 20 years ago when we bought our apartment....but no response. Is there somewhere I can go to get a copy please?
Thanks
Sue

Do you live in Spain? If so, your NIE may be printed on official documents, for example, your residence card.
If you can't locate the number, don't panic, the number itself never changes and remains valid for life. You won't need to start the application process from scratch; you just need to request a duplicate.
You can do this in person at a National police station in Spain.

Go to your nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate in UK or whatever country you live in asit is far less hassle. You will need to make an appointment. Ask the Embassy what documents you need. It is usually a completed Modelo EX15, your Passport and modelo 790-012 which you take to the Bank to pay the fee.

Thanks Bee, I will try contacting them tomorrow, although I've never heard of the forms you've mentioned but hopefully they will be able to guide me.

Do you know your NIE number and are just wanting a copy of the initial cert issued when you obtained your number?
If you do know your number, there’s not much advantage in having a copy of the cert - I’ve had my NIE for 10 yrs now and have never been asked to show the cert? 🤷♂️

Same here. Got ours in 2008, laminated it and put it in my file. Went to get the old green EU register card in 2011 and was asked for it but they simply took the number as I didn't have it with me and went through fine. Never been asked for it since and the number is all I need although the TIE for us residents is a God send.

Thanks for this, I feel a bit more reassured now, as I have the number....so I will stop worrying.
