Our neighbour recently had his done, however not privately, seems they did both at same time, unfortunately he has had no end of trouble, has not been able to drive for weeks, we hardly see him out and about now, he stays indoors.
Does not even walk his dogs, a friend has taken over that duty for the time being.
I always thought that one eye at a time was operated on so there would be one good eye ( so to speak) while the other got better.
I had mine done at Novovision in Murcia, cost for the cataract part was €3550 including initial consultation. One eye was done then when they were happy that all was ok the other one was done a couple of months later. The operation was painless start to finish and the after care is superb. I have returned every 3 months for a pressure check as I had a procedure done for glaucoma at the same time.
The results are amazing, my sight is as good as it has ever been and I was able to drive the next day, I would highly recommend them.

I've had both mine done at Denia Hospital. Both were done under SIP so I can't advise on the cost.
However the correct procedure is to do one eye, sign it off as successful one month later, and the second eye can be done AFTER that. If you have an offer to do both at the same time you have bad practice at play. Don't accept it.
The operation is painless. You undress, put on a hospital gown, foot covering, hair covering. You have a mild sedative, anaesthetic drops inserted, a saline drip, then wheeled to theatre. The operation takes approx 30 minutes, is painless although could be mildly uncomfortable for some as more liquid is swirled into your eye as the op progresses. You are then put into a recovery room for about an hour before being released. You do not have a patch, you are given protective wrap around dark glasses. You should not drive home but you can usually drive just fine after a couple of days. You will probably feel a bit tired for the first few days. You take 3 different drops for 28 days running up to your sign off by the surgeon.
Start again with the next one!
This is just my own experience, other possibilities may be out there....

Edit- i believe in the UK you are offered the choice of lens that's inserted ie do you want "long distance" or "short". Not sure if that's correct but I seem to recall reading it on the NHS website. At Denia I was not offered this choice but I wanted long anyway and that's what they do as standard.
Again here not done privately, done at Torrevieja hospital, one eye in December other in March, brilliant, been wearing glasses for 60 yrs.now only for reading.Procedure much easier than expected,in hospital about two hours, eye patched up until next morning then fine, just eye drops for a few weeks.
