Hi all hope someone can advise me on the issue with our electric tripping.

We had a problem back in June with the electric tripping it was my first visit in over 2 years due to issue with my wife's health and the COVID impact. We thought it was the boiler which had corrosion so we had a new one fitted and it seemed ok. However my son and his family are there now and the problem is back. He has tried plugging and unplugging all appliances etc but it is still tripping. He says if you wait 20mins you can reset and it works again. However I am concerned about it

Can anyone share similar problem or advise in potential solution?

Greatly appreciate all help

Best regards Billy

You are probable exceeding your potencia. In spain you have a max rating on your power supply. It will be shown on your electric bill. If you have a new smart meter they trip out if you exceed this, they can be reset right away but the only solution is to reduce the usage or increase the potentia. To do this you would need a certificate from an electrician to say the wiring is suitable for a higher load.

It's my understanding that the supplier only supply a certain amount of power and if its not enuff will overload and trip could be wrong

Condensation in the oven or on the hob contacts is a regular problem when a property has been unoccupied for a while.

I wouldn't go down the route of increasing your potencia, particularly if you had no issues prior to your enforced pandemic absence.

Hi Billy

It's highly possible that your son has too many things switched on at the same time - therefore exceeding the contracted potencia.

I imagine he is using Aircon at the moment, and is also using the boiler. These two things can use a lot of power, and if he then turns on the oven and/or kettle it's very possible that the power will trip out.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

We had problems returning after 2 years, it was condensation in the oven and hob, it may cause permanent damage to oven. Start by turning it on at a very low heat to attempt to dry it out. Good luck I hope it works. I think our element has gone  due to this problem.

Hi all just thanking you all again for your great support and advice. It looks as if it was condensation as some of you had suggested as he had the oven and washing machine etc and everything has been fine for the past few days so fingers crossed it's all good

Again the forum members provide the best advise and support 🙌👍
