I am worried that my 73 year old husband is not being included in the vaccine rollout. I am 59 and had my first AZ 2 weeks ago. Neighbours both older and younger than my husband have had theirs. We have queried it at the Centro de Salud and they say he'll get a text in the next week or two but they've been saying that since February! Is there any known reason why someone in this age bracket has not been invited? Are there any other 73 year olds in Formentera still waiting? We feel he's being left at risk as holiday makers begin to arrive possibly bringing the virus with them.

Thanks.

PS. We are both fully registered residents with SIP cards.

Thank you for your reply. When you say you're neighbour was in the same situation, do you mean he is 73 and hasn't had a jab yet but got an appointment by visiting the Centro de Salud? Is this in Formentera? We went to the Centro de Salud but they wouldn't give an appointment and told us to wait for a text. We have been waiting for months and have had nothing despite calling in every month to check.

Hi Claire,

It doesn't make sense that your husband hasn't received an appointment for his vaccination.  Have you checked with the Centro de Salud (Rojales?) that they have the correct mobile phone number for your husband?  I received my vaccine earlier than a friend who is 3 years older - I kept telling her to check her details with the Centro de Salud, but she was adamant they had them - except they didn't!

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you for your reply. We have been to both Rojales' and Formentera's Centro de Saluds and been told to wait on at least four separate occasions. Our correct (Spanish mobile) phone number is on the system and shows up on YoSalud so we know it's properly registered. Being unvaccinated whilst others are letting down their guard because they have received their jabs is a real worry and makes my husband feel extremely vulnerable!

I don't understand this, Claire.  A friend of ours, also 73, missed the SMS text on his phone, so didn't realise that he'd been sent an appointment until the day after.  He went to Rojales health centre and they gave him his first dose there - he has his second one there next Thursday.  His wife, aged 71, also has her second dose next Tuesday.  It seems to me that the reason they can't do anything is because he hasn't received the text - it may be worth double-checking the SMS app on his mobile.

If it's any consolation, everyone in our immediate circle of friends have had at least the first dose and none of us are letting our guard down - and we won't be doing so when we've had the second dose either; none of the vaccines are 100% effective.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi we also had a friend that hadn’t heard about his vaccine, even tho we were born same year just a month apart. I had a txt he didn’t. Was adamant that all details were correct, eventually he went to the Doctors to confirm with them his mobile, they had been ringing a no longer used landline three times. He got his appointment 10 days later, once his mobile had been updated.

We don't understand it either! We share one mobile and I received my text so know what to expect and therefore definitely didn't miss it. The Centro de Salud  will not vaccinate him until he receives a text so we are just getting nowhere. Rojales was just rude and said "espere, espere!" before waving us away because we said we hadn't received a ext...... We have just found a 72 year old in Formentera who hasn't received a text either and he is getting the same brush off from the health centres. It's not that were impatient but if 63% of 70-79 year olds had been vaccinated in March, then I would have thought they all should have been done by now! Something seems wrong but what to do?

Hi Claire,

That's exactly the conversation I had with my friend who should have been vaccinated before me - she and her husband share a mobile and she was adamant that the Health Centre had it.  However, while that number was listed on HIS patient record at the Centro de Salud, there was no number recorded against HER patient record.

If I were you, I would go back to the Health centre and ask them to check that the mobile number is recorded on your husband's patient record and that it's been entered correctly.  I also live in Formentera del Segura and know from my own experience and that of my older friends that, at his age, your husband should have been vaccinated by now.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kim but t he number is correct on his personal details on YoSalud. We have also been to the centre every month and given them the same number and told them the problem. They take the number and say wait a week or so for a text - which never comes. I have located two other over 70 year olds in the same edificio as us who have not been contacted either. On my morning walks, I'm seeing more and more people not wearing masks and my husband is now nervous about leaving the apartment! I just don't know what else we can do.
