Hi everyone,

I am Dave and my wife is Anape (Anne) and we are preparing to relocate to this area in Spain in the not too distant future.  My wife Anne is a Filipina and is interested to know of any Filipinas in this location, I am hoping there are many as she has many Filipina friends here in UK and would be wonderful for her to have the same in Spain.

I am retired, have a house to declutter and sell before we can make the move but it will give me plenty of time to ask all the questions that can come about with leaving the UK (Wales) and getting Non Lucrative Visa etc

So in advance thank you for your help and replies and hopefully Anne and I can make the move smoothly and correctly.

Anne is of working age, but I think she has to wait 1 year before she can start a job in Spain, but the good thing is she can become a Spanish Citizen after 2 years as long as she learns Spanish which she tells me, won't take her long :-)

Gracias

Hi,

Welcome to the forum and you are welcome to ask all the questions you like.

This link might help in the meantime:

I think your wife will need to wait longer than 2 years for Spanish citizenship.

Hi Steve and thanks for the very useful link.  I have just checked again and it confirms my thoughts about my wife's citizenship, as she is a citizen of one of Spain former colonies, she will be entitled to apply for citizenship after 2 years of continuous residence and as long as she learns the language and passes certain exams on Spanish history, society, and laws.

Anne is Filipina - different rules about citizenship for Filipinos ... similar to South American countries, the Philippines has historical connections to Spain.

A couple of websites that may have some answers to questions that you may have before you up-sticks are as follows:

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for bureaucratic stuff, and

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain.   This site is for English speaking people and is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil.

Aha, thanks Steve.  I only found out recently, mainly through my Filipina wife, whose great grandfather was from Spain and has a surname of Alcoriza, I think that's pretty Spanish.

I am learning all the time too and it's thanks to people like you and on the forums who share their knowledge and make the 'hoops' bigger and easier to jump through.  So a big thank you, I am 76 and long time retired, can't wait to get away from a freezing cold United Kingdom.
